On April 10, 2021, I volunteered to help set up Kidsfest at the Davie County Recreation and Parks center, which was located where the old High School was. I thought they had planned to tear it down and wondered why they would repurpose it since I haven't heard much about it. I spent my time going from station to station trying to find people to help them set up, but they were either already finished or they said that they could do it themselves. I did get a bit bored once everything was set up though, probably because I was actively looking for something to do. I volunteered from 8:30 A.M. to 10:00 A.M.
On April 7, 2021, I volunteered at SmartStart again to help them with their Kidsfest event that would be taking place on the 10th. I mostly just put stickers on paper bags filled with pea seeds, put fire safety stuff in the bags I had filled last week, and put labels on children books because I had finished with everything that was needed for Kidsfest. The people working at SmartStart were checking up on me to make sure I wasn't tired out, since I was volunteering for 6 hours instead of 2, which reassured me that these people don't want me to overwork myself. I worked from 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.
On March 31, 2021, I volunteered to assist SmartStart in filling up bags with pamphlets, packets (some I made), magnets, chalk, business cards, papers, and books. This was the first time I had done some voluntary service for the National Honor Society, so I only volunteered to work for 2 hours. I did wear myself out a little bit because I was trying to finish what I could, and ended up filling 75 of the 300 bags. I did think about taking a business card, but they ran out of those after I had filled the bags. I was focused on working, so I couldn't take a lot of photos. The task was simple, so I pushed myself to keep going and do as much as I can. I felt like I could do this longer because I had a day in Spring Break where I was doing nothing productive and I also felt like I could prove to the NHS that they made a good choice letting me in. I worked from 12:00 P.M. - 2:00 P.M.
